He is also notable for his portrayal of Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald on the soap opera Passions and his starring role as the title character in the movie John Tucker Must Die. Metcalfe was born in Carmel Valley, California, the son of Nancy (née DeMaio) and Jeff Metcalfe. Metcalfe played in several basketball leagues during his teen years in Waterford, Connecticut and graduated from The Williams School in New London, Connecticut. Metcalfe made brief appearances in later seasons. in January 2005, after just nearly two months, Metcalfe expressed the difficulty juggling two major roles on a daytime and primetime, with the overwhelming work schedule. in February 2005, Metcalfe announced that he would not be returning to Passions and that he would be continue the role as John on Desperate Housewives on a full-time basis.
The pair departed onscreen together in what is referred to a “classic daytime cliffhanger” in July 2004 but Metcafe was soon brought back to the series for a short-sting later that year. Metcalfe made brief appearances in later seasons. in January 2005, after just nearly two months, Metcalfe expressed the difficult and the struggle to juggle two major roles on a daytime and primetime show, dicussing the overwhelming work schedule. Metcafe also disagreed with his character’s Miguel new pairing with the scheming Kay Bennett, played by Heidi Mueller. Metcalfe thanked Passions excutive producer, Lisa De Cazotte giving much support for letting him create the role of Miguel as his own and for giving him the chance to move on to better things. Metcalfe hosted an episode of the British TV chat show The Paul O’Grady Show on October 26, 2006, because O’Grady was taking the week off on doctor’s orders.
