Palin had a contretemps with the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman, a local newspaper, and became involved in personnel challenges and “a thwarted attempt to pack the City Council” during her first year in office. Using municipal bonds, she made improvements to the roads and sewers, and increased funding to the Police Department.
